Troop 177
Troop 177 is in the William Henry Harrison District within the Dan Beard Council.
Leading Scouts for more than 80 years, Troop 177 was originally chartered in 1928.

Troop 177 subscribes to the goals of Scouting, which are to:
  • build character and leadership
  • foster citizenship
  • and to develop physical and spiritual fitness

Scouts are encouraged to follow the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, respect Troop Leaders, and exhibit Scouting Spirit.

Two Deep Leadership
Troop 177 adheres to the two deep leadership policies established by BSA. Two deep leadership requires that at every activity there shall be at least two adults present to provide supervision. Parents are encouraged to attend all events and may be called upon to provide additional adult supervision when needed.

Troop Committee
The Troop Committee consists of BSA registered adults. The primary duties of the Troop Committee is to provide support for the Troop, ensure that the Troop Program meets the guidelines set forth by the Boy Scouts of America, and maintain a program that will provide the most benefit to the scouts. The Committee will support the Troop in providing logistical and transportation support in Troop activities, manage Troop resources, and provide a safety watch over the Troop activities. Troop Committee meetings are held once a month.

Parent Participation
Parental participation in Troop functions and activities is essential if the Troop is to be successful and provide the outdoor leadership experience our scouts want and need. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in the Troop Committee, as Uniformed Leaders, Activity Coordinator, or provide logistic support. Drivers are always needed to transport the scouts and their equipment to and from activities.
Parents of scouts are always welcome to participate in Troop outings and, at times, may be needed to meet the BSA's two deep leadership requirements.
